Beadeaux [S] box farming! Tonight Ro grabbed me up to come play with her and some friends. I’ve done box farming in La Vaule [S] and this was way easier, more than likely it was the setup and the people. Walked out with 7/8 boxes so it was a very productive night. It was tons of fun learning the behaviour of each of the NMs, SE did a great job on the variety of diffrent things these mobs can do. All the fights were nice and steady, no rush, no real danger. Took a couple of deaths but I’ll let that go as experience. I think that the SCNM system is a great starting point if you want to start lowmanning things. Boxes are 100%, SCNM fights drop decent gear, and even thou the drop rate for items off the box NMs is crappy, those can be a nice chunk of change on their own. I know Ro and Peli were geared way better than me, and nuked a lot harder than what I was, but they were so helpfull it wasn’t an issue. More like something for me to look forward to instead of them looking down on me for it. Definatly had a fun time there and hope to share the experience with my New LS mates.

Yup, we finally downed this bastard, and he dropped my boots! Yay for Aurum Sabatons! Kouk and myself were back on tanking duty for this one. “Ultima makes this guy look like a joke” I believe was the direct quote from Kouk after we were done. BLU + RDM dual tanks, BRD, COR, WHM, RDM, RDM, BLM, BLM, BLM is what we went with, and I have to say that it was by far the easiest Armed Gears I have ever done. Downed in 25min and only 2 deaths, Kouk got eaten when his haste dropped and Derik took one to the face b4 I could re-establish hate. Thanks to Thor who was the only one intrested in helping when I shouted for blm help in WG. Real confidence boost taking down this guy as RDM tank. Bind Sleep 1 and 2 is all I needed, Kouk had fierce hate the whole fight so I was really working that rotation. Easy enough to get hate back from him once he took some D and I could heal him. No issues with mid fight Converts either. Very very fun fight, and thanks to everyone that showed up to help out.

RDM/NIN Ultima… hmm. I have to start off by saying that this was by far the hardest thing I have tanked to date.  After Omega I thought that this thing might be only a bit harder at most. I was totally wrong. It didn’t take me long to figure out that the double attack was gonna be an issue. It took me a bit to start to anticipate and cast shadows early. This was also the first time I got to tank with Kouk so I had to get used to that as well. The first 25% was rough to say the least. Kouk and I were getting pounded trying to get used to it, there were times that I was doing my best to tank it weakend. The recast time on shadows while weakend is no joke. I don’t think I have ever been so busy with watching timers. 75%-20% was way better. There were only 2? deaths during this span, and they were due to freak 1 shots. Hate was under control and we were finally able to get into a groove. 20% all hell broke loose and we ended up timing out at 14%. Not too bad with 2 newb tanks and most of the group new to the fight. Need to think about some MDT gear for this one, and better timing on shadows. Armed Gears should be up again soon, and then we’re gonna start down the Sarameya path!

Nothing going on, just moved across the country so I’m still getting settled in. Since I have not been ingame the last couple of days there isn’t really anything new to post so I’ll just throw up something from a couple of weeks ago. Armed Gears, this was one of the first things that I wanted to try to lowman, Setup was decent, lacking a lil bit in the nuking department, which eventually resulted in a Rage/Wipe. Started a lil bit too late with the higher tier nukes so we didn’t get enough damage in to get it before the rage timer went off. Tanked it with RDM and BLU dual tanks which was absolutely perfect. Ro had some connections issues and eventually D/C’d toward the end of the fight. Almost have the zeni built back up for another attempt so keep and eye out for that, and now that I’m all settled in I’ll be getting some more posts up as things happen.

I love tanking! Tonight I got a chance to tank Omega in Limbus. This was my first time to do anything like this so I was all for it. We usually run a small group for Limbus lately so I knew it would be pretty intense. Turns out that it wasn’t that bad at all. I didn’t go into this totally blind, I’ve been doing some research about tanking on RDM for a while. Ro has been a great resource for information about it, from gear to hate control. I had built up the gear sets as much as I could, aside from r/ex items… actually I’m a broke ass Galka so it was really what I could afford. Ok so the gear is out of the way, hate kindof took care of itself with the /sam DDs. Only a few spells needed to keep the hate balanced. 25% and this thing went berserk and killed us all. Even with that I came away with a ton of actual experience, and something that I will jump at the chance to do again.

Decided to have a lil fun on this one and test out some voke/snarl back up tanking. Not quite what I imagined it to be, but it got the job done. Maybe with a lil bit of tweaking I can get it to work better. No drops from this turkey so I’m sure we will see it again, which we did next pop… and are still after it. Oh well, better luck next claim.
